Conclusion

In conclusion, Napoleon commissioned artists to memorialize him as a romantic hero using positive propaganda and false advertising to show the world he was a charitable ruler. For example, his commissioned painting Bonaparte Visiting the Pesthouse in Jaffa, showing the untrue charitable acts he did while conquering Egypt. Artists, either commissioned by his enemies or who personally suffered from his wars, demonized Napoleon by showing realistic recreations of his ruthless rule and brutality of his heartless army. As seen in Goya's The Third of May, an emotional recollection of the Goya's Spanish countrymen. To further spread Napoleon's infamy, satirical caricatures, anti-Napoleon propaganda are summed up in this exhibit, as seen in An English Bull Dog and a Corsican Blood Hound, were the short tyrannical conqueror is mauled to death. These preserved pieces were created during and after his reign and still contribute to his popular legacy, especially his height and a complex named after him. Thus, these painting are vessels carrying old messages to current generations.
