"Peck had been arrested"

While working in the resistance, Roux came to realize that friends and colleagues would disappear. Here she remembers the day her chief did not show up.

"December 23, 1944 my chief Marcel Peck did not show up for our meeting on the Boulevard Raspail. Young, dynamic, enterprizing, he was always punctual or sent a message. I waited half an hour, which was very imprudent. Peck had been arrested (and died after torture)" (page 7)
