Agnès Humbert's Resistance Journal
Humbert decided to return to Paris in July 1940: “It is quite likely that I shall waste no time in getting dismissed from my post for my beliefs. The very occasional Lyon editions of Paris-Soir that I have managed to read here and there leave no room for doubt … as to the inclinations of the Laval government. But still, this puppet administration can’t last for ever … This morning we heard that as fast as German posters are put up in Paris they are slashed and torn down again. The people of Paris are rebelling already.”
